With an appraisal career spanning over two decades and a deep-rooted passion for real estate, Melanie Burkeen Petterbrings unparalleled expertise to the industry. A self-employed certified residential real estate appraiser licensed in both Kentucky and Illinois, Melanie began her journey as an associate appraiser in 1995, working under another appraiser for five years before founding her own company, Burkeen Appraisals, in 2000.

Melanie has been a licensed Realtor since 1997 and currently works alongside her associate appraiser, Callie Dosdon, who joined her Burkeen Appraisals team in 2022.

Most of Melanie’s education has been obtained through NAIFA, McKissock, and the Appraisal Institute. Over the years, she has built a small yet successful company, working as an independent contractor for nearly all local and national mortgage lenders, as well as individuals and attorneys. Melanie is also an approved appraiser for VA, USDA, Kentucky Housing, FHA, Penny MAC, Fannie Mae, and Freddie MAC. With 30 years of experience, she specializes in luxury homes and continues to set the standard for excellence in the industry.

Melanie is also an active member of the Paducah Board of Realtors (PBOR), the Egyptian Board of Realtors (EBOR), and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Her commitment to the community is evident through her involvement as an active member of the Chamber of Commerce, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a dedicated parishioner at Grace Episcopal Church.

She has served as a past board member and SBDM representative for McCracken County Schools, demonstrating her dedication to education and local development.

At home, Melanie treasures her role as a wife and mother. She is married to Robert Petter, Jr., and is proud of their family, which includes son Harper Burkeen and daughters Livie Burkeen, Olivia Petter, and Meredith Petter.
